Begin with the question
Metrics only help when they answer a decision. Are people seeing the message? Does the video hold attention? Do followers take the intended next step? Pick a small set of signals for each objective rather than one dashboard for every number.
Compare like with like
A Reel, a Facebook post and a YouTube video have different distribution and viewing behavior. Compare formats against their own previous performance and use platform context. Avoid declaring one channel better because it has a larger raw reach.
Connect metrics to the content record
Keep results with the published variant: topic, hook, media, audience and publishing time. This gives the team a usable learning history. A report without the creative context rarely explains what should change next.
Review a regular sample
Once a month, review a handful of strong and weak posts. Identify patterns in the brief, execution and channel fit. Turn one or two findings into an editorial experiment for the next month.
Avoid vanity reporting
A metric matters when it informs a choice. If a number cannot change a decision, keep it out of the recurring review.
